My school uses a sequence of only 4 Units, with standards from multiple sources. Once the standards are chosen for the unit, It would be very convenient if when writing the lesson plan in given unit my standard choices were limited to those I assigned for the unit. Otherwise there is no real benefit to setting up the unit ahead of time.
